How many castles and fortresses are there left in Ukraine? Many are convinced that the number of strongholds is limited to the well-known fortresses in Kamenets-Podolsky, Belgorod-Dnestrovsky, Sudak, Lutsk, Khotin, Medzhybozh, Ostrog, Mukachevo and Uzhgorod. However, their number reaches over 300 defense structures scattered all over Ukraine. There are forts in the Volhyn, Podillya, Slobozhany, Galychyna, Dnieper valley, Bukovyna and Trans-Carpathian regions, in large cities and remote villages alike. |
